How we got started with candle making at home
I’m Garth and my wife is Heidi. 15 years ago, Heidi and I started making candles for fun. We discovered this was an inexpensive way to make nice gifts for our family and friends. We enjoyed our “candle-making dates,” as we called them.
At the time, we had no idea that our hobby would turn into a business. Our family and friends encouraged us to “sell” our candles, so we figured we’d give it a try.
Within 3 months we had purchased 2 tons of wax and had sold $10,000 worth of candles! And, we both had day jobs! This was the beginning of Moon Valley Candles.
Our original candle designs have been sold in exclusive resort gift stores, mall boutiques, western wear stores, florist shops, and many other retail stores.
We’ve also given away hundreds as gifts to friends and family over the years. We’ve even used our candles as promotional gifts to clients for one of our other businesses. Everyone loves a handcrafted gift.
